In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, a Chinese national was apprehended at N’djili airport in Kinshasa in possession of ivory.

As he was preparing to leave Congolese territory on a flight, a Chinese national named Huang was arrested after the discovery of a large quantity of ivory concealed in a milk box.

According to the Conserv Congo NGO which announced this news, the latter was transferred to the Kinkole high court where investigations are underway to elucidate the origin of the ivory.

In June 2018, 62.2 kilograms of ivory tusks, already worked, had been seized from N’djili international airport by airport services. The ivory trade and elephant poaching are prohibited worldwide as part of the protection of elephants categorized for years as a rare endangered species.
