VIGILANT Mtubatuba police officers arrested two suspects in Khula Village, near St Lucia, for being in possession of elephant tusks.
Conducting a routine patrol, police spotted two men walking along the R618 past the Manukelana nursery, one carrying a big black bag.
Mtubatuba police spokesperson, Captain Justice Hlabisa, said the officers stopped and asked to inspect the bag, in which the elephant tusks were then discovered.
‘Dumisa Madletshe (28) and Ndabenhle Dubazane (33) appeared in the Mtubatuba Magistrate’s Court and were released on R1 000 bail each,’ Hlabisa said.
They will appear in court again in July
