A 43-YEAR-OLD devil’s claw harvester was killed by an elephant in the Zambezi region on Tuesday.

The police have identified the man, who is suspected to have been trampled by an elephant in a forest near the Samudono area, as Kaka Eugin Sipopo.

A police spokesperson in the Zambezi region, Kisco Sitali, confirmed the incident to The Namibian on Wednesday, saying that Sipopo left his house alone on Tuesday morning to go harvest devil’s claw and never returned home.

“When he did not return home until today the family members got worried and followed his footprints. Unfortunately the trail just led them to his dead body which was trampled by an elephant,” Sitali said.
