A First in Botswana! We have hired 6 young men to herd the first communal livestock herd in Botswana! Over 75% of the cattle from Eretsha Village will be brought together and looked after by our trained herders. These herders will design and implement rotational grazing schemes, monitor cattle for disease and protect them against predators. Through wildlife friendly herding practices we expect a significant drop in predator attacks and long term we expect the restoration of habitat from damaging overgrazing. This is the future of conflict mitigation and lion conservation in this critical habitat. Next up Gunotsoga Village. Thank you @lionrecovery @natgeo @leonardodicapriofdn @greatplainsfoundation and our donors for helping us reach this incredible day! photo: Edwin Mudongo @ Okavango Delta
