Five rhino poaching suspects have been arrested by the Hawks in North-West at Lethabong village near Rustenburg.

Hawks spokesperson Tlangelani Rikhotso says the group of men were stopped by police on a farm.

Police searched their two vehicles and found a hunting rifle, a silencer and rounds of ammunition as well as cash and several cell phones.

All of these items were seized for use as exhibits.

The suspects will appear in the Rustenburg Magistrate’s court on Monday.

They will face charges of illegal possession of a firearm and conspiracy to commit rhino poaching.
