Residents of Lekiji village, Laikipia North subcounty, want KWS rangers to track and kill an elephant that killed a woman on Saturday. Risian ole Shembele, the village’s Nyumba Kumi chairman, said Susanna Lenaimadu, 44, a mother of four, was trampled to death on Saturday evening. She was fetching firewood on the border of the village and Mpala Research Centre.

Shembele said the same elephant attacked and injured an elderly man known as Lomotokai Lowipos. Yesterday,

county KWS warden Richard Chepkwony said rangers drove off the animals.
