The anti graft agency has arrested more than 25 MCAs from the Trans Nzoia county over graft allegations.

The MCAs were arrested in Kitale town on Monday morning and driven to Eldoret under tight security to face charges in court.

EACC detectives raided the Trans Nzoia assembly and picked up the MCAs.

They will be charged with false claims of allowances among other offenses.

“They will be taken to court because investigation are complete,” said EACC coordinator for North Rift Enock Otiko.

Top officials of the county assembly will also face charges in connection with corruption at the assembly.

A convoy of police vehicles are escorting the MCAs from Kitale to Eldoret where they will be charged.

Last year 15 staff of the Trans Nzoia County were also charged in court over graft.

On January 15, the EACC has arrested three Trans Nzoia county workers allegedly caught asking a resident for a Sh15,000 bribe.

The senior officer and two others from the enforcement department were apprehended at Kobos village in Kwanza sub county.

They were said to have asked for the money to ignore the person’s lack of documents approving the construction of rental houses.

Governor Patrick Khaemba warned employees against engaging in corruption, saying his government will ensure the interdiction of culprits.

“The EACC must continue investigating and anyone found culpable must be dealt with according to the law,” he said.
